Newcastle finalizes significant payment for Brentford's Yoane Wissa, with sell-on terms specified according to a recent report.

Newcastle United Secure Yoane Wissa Transfer for £55m

Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of forward Yoane Wissa from FC Brentford in a deal worth an initial £55m. The transfer, which is set to be completed before the transfer deadline, marks a summer-long pursuit by the north-east club.

Wissa, who has one year remaining on his contract with Brentford, has agreed to transfer to St. James' Park. The 26-year-old forward will undergo a medical this afternoon before putting pen to paper on his new deal.

Brentford initially resisted letting Wissa leave, with their asking price more in the region of £40m earlier this summer. However, Newcastle United have managed to secure the player's signature with an increased offer of £55m.

The Athletic reports that the details of Wissa's transfer include Newcastle United paying half of the fee this financial year, with the second half to be paid in 2026-27. Brentford have reportedly negotiated a 25-per-cent sell-on clause for the forward.

Wissa's departure from Brentford comes at a time when the London club have lost several key players. Thomas Frank has moved to Tottenham Hotspur, Christian Norgaard has joined Arsenal, and Bryan Mbeumo has been transferred to Manchester United.

Newcastle United are reinvesting the funds from the sale of Alexander Isak into the acquisitions of Wissa and Nick Woltemade. Isak's transfer to Liverpool is also set to be completed before the 7pm transfer deadline. Woltemade has already been acquired by the Magpies.

Wissa's transfer to Newcastle United comes after he expressed his desire to leave Brentford last summer, stating in a public statement on his social media channels that he was promised the opportunity to pursue a move elsewhere by the club's executives. The forward has not played for Brentford this season due to his desire to move to another club.

Personal terms are not thought to be an issue in the transfer of Wissa to Newcastle United. The forward is expected to provide much-needed firepower to the Magpies' attack as they look to secure their place in the Premier League for next season.
