Nigeria Strikes Groundbreaking Cybersecurity Agreement with Kaspersky
Nigeria's digital future received a significant boost with the strategic partnership between the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Kaspersky Global. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalised during GITEX Nigeria 2025, an event held in Lagos, Nigeria.
The collaboration aims to bolster Nigeria's cybersecurity landscape by combining international expertise with local commitment. Chris Norton, the General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa at Kaspersky, and Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director General of NITDA, were present at the agreement sealing.
Under the terms of the MoU, Kaspersky will offer strategic advisory services to help NITDA establish robust cybersecurity frameworks and standards. This includes a framework for intelligence sharing on cyber threats and attacks impacting Nigerian citizens, government institutions, and critical digital infrastructure.
Collaborative research and analysis will be conducted to improve national cyber defence literacy. Joint public awareness campaigns, such as the Cybersecurity Alphabet initiative, will be launched to educate the public about digital safety.
Training programmes will be initiated to build local expertise. Kaspersky will provide support to NITDA in strengthening cyber capacity across Nigeria. This partnership is viewed as a significant milestone in Nigeria's digital resilience agenda.
