Night-time Enforcement in Indore: Crackdown on 576 Offenders and Anti-Socials; Over 130 Arrested for Drunk Driving, Motor Vehicles Impounded
Indore Police Crackdown on Criminals and Drunk Driving
The Indore Police Department, under the leadership of Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh, conducted a major crackdown over the weekend, targeting 576 criminals and anti-social elements, and over 130 individuals for drunk driving.
The operation, which took place from Saturday night to Sunday morning, was part of a surprise checking drive aimed at maintaining law and order in the city. The drive also aimed to address the rising number of road accidents due to drunk driving.
During the crackdown, DCPs of all four zones formed special teams to launch an intensive search and checking operation. Some teams conducted patrols in sensitive areas, while others focused on identifying repeat offenders and verifying criminal records.
A total of 1,220 people with criminal backgrounds were checked during the drive. Preventive action was taken against more than 100 persons, and action was taken against 576 people with criminal backgrounds for continued involvement in unlawful activities despite earlier preventive measures.
The police also prepared dossiers on several offenders to maintain a detailed record of their activities. The 312 arrest warrants were executed on Sunday, during the curfew imposed over the weekend.
Commissioner Singh emphasised that such surprise checking drives will continue to curb criminal activities in the city. The Indore Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
