Nine trains held up following drone-inflicted disruptions in the Rostov region
In an unexpected turn of events, drone attacks have caused disruptions to train services in the Rostov region of Russia. According to reports, a UAV was shot down at Sal'sk station, causing debris to fall and disrupt the contact network at the station.
At around 2:00 today, the UAV incident occurred, leading to the evacuation of passengers on train No.59. Preliminary reports suggest no injuries occurred on this train. However, the glazing in two carriages of the train suffered damage.
The fire in a freight train at an unspecified location remains unclear, as does the location of the fire in the freight train at Sal'sk station. No information is provided about the status of the fire at Kamennaya station, where debris from another drone fell, causing a fire that resulted in damage to an infrastructure object.
The aftermath of these incidents has led to significant delays. Nine passenger trains of the Federal Passenger Company are delayed due to the incidents at Sal'sk station. Train movement at the station is currently suspended.
It is unclear if the UAV attacks have caused any further damage to other trains or infrastructure. Previously, drone attacks had caused disruptions in the schedule of 26 passenger trains.
Reports also indicate that UAVs attacked several other locations in the region, including Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Volgodonsk, as well as Bokovsky and Tarasovsky districts. Last night, a person was killed in Sal'sk due to a drone strike.
Authorities are currently investigating the incidents and assessing the extent of the damage caused. More updates will be provided as information becomes available.
