NNPC Facing Assault, Yet Ojulari Affirms Continuation of Transformation

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) is currently facing coordinated attacks from individuals and groups opposed to its ongoing transformation agenda. However, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has assured that the company will not yield to short-term pressure.

Ojulari made this revelation on Thursday, emphasizing that the company remains focused on delivering on its mandate despite challenges. He stressed that this focus is in the best interest of Nigerians, as the company will not be swayed by opposition.

In a show of support, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has expressed its readiness to stand with the NNPC management in ensuring sustainable progress in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. Comrade Festus Osifo, President of PENGASSAN, commended the NNPC Management for its collaboration during the 2025 PENGASSAN Energy & Labour Summit (PEALS) in Abuja.

Osifo acknowledged remarkable milestones achieved under Ojulari's leadership, particularly in tackling crude oil theft and improving production. The union also commended the NNPC's efforts to make pipelines functional and significantly reduce crude oil theft.

Brazil's state-owned oil giant, Petrobras, is exploring fresh opportunities in Nigeria's upstream sector, with specific attention to deepwater and ultra-deep-water opportunities. During President Bola Tinubu's state visit to Brazil, Udy Ntia, NNPC's Executive Vice-President for Upstream, met with Petrobras Chief Executive Officer, Magda Chambriard.

Ojulari expressed optimism, stating that the enemies of the company and Nigerians will not win. He assured union leaders that the management team would continue to prioritize resilience and stability in the face of opposition.

Since assuming office about five months ago, Ojulari's administration has focused on reviving Nigeria's refineries. Ojulari is committed to staying focused on the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He urged patience from the Nigerian people, assuring them that the change currently underway will benefit the country and its citizens in the long run.

Despite the ongoing attacks, the NNPC Ltd. remains resolute in its mission to drive progress and development in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. The company's unwavering commitment to its mandate and the support of organisations like PENGASSAN bode well for the future of the sector and the nation as a whole.
