North of Dresden Experiences Simultaneous Emergencies, Overwhelming Fire and Rescue Services
On August 26, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on Radeberger Landstraße, Dresdner Heide at around 3:45 PM. The incident involved a Renault and a Volkswagen.
The events unfolded on Kirchstraße, Langebrück, where the collision took place. The cause of the accident remains unknown at this time.
The accident resulted in heavy smoke, which spread to a room in the basement of a nearby residential building. Firefighters from the Albertstadt, Striesen, and Altstadt fire and rescue stations, along with the rescue stations Neustadt and Trachau, were quick to respond. They were joined by the B-Dienst and the district fire brigade Klotzsche, amounting to approximately 40 firefighters and rescue workers.
One person was severely injured and had to be freed by firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools. The affected individual was then examined by the rescue service and taken to a hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. Three other lightly injured persons were also taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance.
The severely injured driver was also taken to a hospital. The scene of the accident is currently being handed over to the police for investigation.
During the rescue operation, firefighters removed the battery from the building and placed it in a water bath to prevent any further incidents. They then ventilated the affected room to remove the smoke.
A separate incident of a fire at a balcony power station was reported, but no further details were provided in this paragraph. The Radeberger Landstraße is currently fully closed in both directions due to the ongoing investigations.
