In the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, several significant events have transpired over the past few days.

Reports suggest that Donald Trump is considering the use of private US military firms as part of security guarantees in Ukraine. This potential move comes as the United States is already considering private American military companies as part of possible security guarantees for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in the war-torn region, Russian forces have reportedly been surrounded by the Ukrainian military near Dobropillja in the Donetsk region. This development follows Moscow's Chief of Staff, Valery Gerasimov's announcement of a continuation of extensive air strikes against Ukraine, targeting military facilities and Ukraine's defense industry.

However, the Ukrainian military has managed to intercept 126 of 142 Russian drones overnight, according to their reports. Unfortunately, an overnight attack resulted in one civilian death and at least 30 injuries in the city of Saporischschja, as Russian troops are reportedly firing dozens to hundreds of drones and missiles at civilian targets and residential areas in Ukraine on a daily basis.

Ukrainian drones allegedly attacked and destroyed two helicopters on a Russian military base in Crimea, a significant blow to the Russian forces. The Ukrainian open-source project Deepstatemap reports a success for the Ukrainians on the front line in northeastern Ukraine, with the village of Myrne near Kupyansk being liberated.

The European Union is exploring the use of frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine's defense and post-war reconstruction. Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War dispute recent Russian claims of territorial gains, stating that only about 2,346 square kilometers of territory and 130 settlements have been captured since March.

Elsewhere, Russian President Putin has arrived in China for a multi-day visit, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is consulting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about peace efforts in the Ukraine conflict before meeting with Vladimir Putin in China.

Amidst these tense global interactions, Lithuania is installing "Dragon's Teeth" at its border with Belarus to strengthen security. The third reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is reportedly back to full power, a crucial step towards stabilising the region's energy supply.

However, the conflict continues to take a heavy toll on civilians, with a video allegedly showing a Russian soldier shooting an unarmed civilian in his own garden. Ukrainian forces are making progress at the front, preventing Russian troops from capturing targets in the Donetsk region and halting further advances into the Dnipropetrovsk region.

As the conflict continues, the international community remains vigilant, seeking ways to support Ukraine while promoting peace and de-escalation.
