Official Invitation Issued by Chancellor: Gathering of Thousands in Government District

Other authorities and institutions also showcased their work during the Open Day. Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) was engaged in conversation with people in his department, while Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) answered questions from visitors under the open sky.
Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) also made an appearance, addressing a critical question about the high costs of expanding the Chancellery, which amount to about 770 million euros. Thorsten Frei, the Federal Chancellery Chief, acknowledged that there has been much debate about the need for an extension in the past.
