Oil spill in FW Hünxe due to ruptured hydraulic pipe
In the small municipality of Hünze, Germany, an unexpected incident unfolded on the evening of April 28, 2025. At 22:42, a hydraulic hose on a semi-trailer burst, causing an approximately 500-meter-long oil spill on Weseler Straße.
The local authority of the municipality of Hünze was quick to respond, calling for fire department support due to the location. The units Hünxe and Bucholtwelmen were alerted to the scene with the call sign "Oil Slick".
The Volunteer Fire Department Hünxe, along with emergency services and the police, closed off the affected lane to ensure safety and contain the spill. Information about the incident was first provided by the Volunteer Fire Department Hünxe, and was later transmitted via news aktuell.
Large oil stains were treated with a binding agent to prevent them from spreading into the green strip. After approximately two and a half hours of work, the scene was handed over to a specialized company for the cleaning of the road.
