Old mountain dweller to face legal repercussions for allegedly illegal timber harvesting
In the Mountain District of Russia, a 47-year-old local resident is facing criminal charges for allegedly illegally felling pine trees. The offence, which is said to have occurred on the territory of the Berdigestyakh Forestry Unit, involves the illegal felling of over 17 cubic meters of pine trees.
The prosecution office in the Mountain District has decided in favour of the indictment, and the case has been forwarded to the local criminal court of the Mountain District for further consideration. The charges against the resident are based on the violation of Article 260, Part 2, Clause "g" of the Russian Criminal Code, which pertains to illegal logging.
The accused has admitted his guilt during the preliminary investigation. It is alleged that the actions of the defendant have caused significant damage to Russia's forest fund. However, it's worth noting that the defendant has fully compensated for the damage caused.
The court hearing is scheduled to take place soon, where the defendant will have the opportunity to present his defence. The outcome of the case could set a precedent for future cases of illegal deforestation in the region.
