Older male individual instigates law enforcement response and resists arrest
In an unexpected turn of events on the evening of September 3, 2025, a police operation unfolded in the heart of Hagen-Haspe, on Cologne Street. A 54-year-old man, known to the authorities, found himself at the centre of the incident following allegations of disturbing the peace.
According to reports, the man approached officers aggressively and resisted arrest. Despite repeated warnings, the situation escalated, leading the officers to use pepper spray. However, the man continued to resist arrest, maintaining a confrontational stance.
The man was wearing a knife on his belt, adding a dangerous element to the encounter. In the course of the altercation, the man slightly injured one of the officers. Despite the use of pepper spray and the man's aggressive behaviour, he kept his hands behind his back throughout the encounter.
The man, who has not been identified in the available sources, was found in his apartment without lights on. Residents of a multi-family house on Cologne Street had reported a smoke alarm around 22:50, which may have triggered the police response.
In an attempt to evade the officers, the man repeatedly moved out of their sight into his apartment. Eventually, the police officers had to open the door to the man's apartment themselves.
The man was eventually taken into custody to prevent further offenses. The Hagen Police Press Office can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at 02331 986 15 15 for more information.
