Open-top speedster: 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider reaches an astonishing 205 MPH without its roof!
Aston Martin has announced the production of the highly anticipated Valkyrie Spider, an open-top version of the iconic Valkyrie supercar. The Valkyrie Spider is set to hit the production line later in the second quarter of 2022, with only 85 units to be produced.
The Valkyrie Spider retains its aerodynamic abilities even with the roof removed, thanks to its lightweight carbon fiber tub chassis and aerodynamic wheels made of magnesium alloy. The removable roof, made of carbon fiber with polycarbonate panels, adds to the car's sleek and modern race car-inspired design, which features a narrow cabin, massive spoiler, and a cabin filled with cutting-edge technology.
Under the hood, the Valkyrie Spider employs a 6.5L Cosworth V12 engine coupled with an electric motor for a total output of 1140 hp. The engine revs to an impressive 11,200 RPM at full chat, and is mounted directly to the carbon-fiber tub, resulting in substantial vibrations. The powertrain includes a KERS-style assist system, and the car is equipped with a 7-speed Ricardo single-clutch automated manual transmission.
The Valkyrie Spider is claimed to have better performance than the regular model, with a potential 0-60 MPH sprint in just 2.5 seconds. It is capable of reaching a top speed of 217 MPH with the roof up and is limited to 205 MPH with the roof down, making it the fastest road-legal open-top car ever built by Aston Martin.
Inside the cabin, all controls and switchgear are placed in the steering wheel, and the seats can be scanned and formed according to the owner's body shape for maximum comfort and support. The Valkyrie Spider also features an OLED display integrated into the steering wheel and a separate central floating display for other functions. Rear-view mirrors have been replaced with cameras, and displays are placed on either side of the dashboard.
The development of the Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider was coordinated by the design and development team of the car manufacturer. The car is expected to cost more than $3.5 million, but prices have not been officially revealed yet.
The Valkyrie Spider is a testament to Aston Martin's commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive technology and design, and it is sure to be a coveted addition to any car collection. With its stunning looks, incredible performance, and cutting-edge features, the Valkyrie Spider is set to redefine what is possible in the world of supercars.
