Recently, the Republic's Prosecutor's Office escalated its efforts by filing a lawsuit against Gabychev D.A. (the mastermind behind "Orgoi"). The Prosecutor's Office seeks to recognize "Orgoi-2023" as an illegal lottery and seize all unlawful earnings in favor of the state. The trial is slated for January 24, 2025.
Participants, who unwittingly bought tickets for the alleged illegal lottery, have recourse. Through the courts, they can demand a refund of their investments. This could potentially snowball into a wave of lawsuits, further tarnishing the "Orgoi" brand as a potentially fraudulent venture.
Progress has been slow, with the 2023 draw yet to unfold. If you recall, dairy farmer Gavril Terentyev from the 2014 draw pocketed the additional 10 million. Nevertheless, the gears of justice have been set in motion, steadily moving towards recognizing "Orgoi" as an unauthorized lottery.
