Outdoor Performances of Shakespeare's Plays
The much-anticipated Shakespeare Garden Festival is set to make a comeback in Neuss, Germany, after a year's absence due to the pandemic. The festival, now renamed as the Shakespeare Garden, will run from June 16 to July 2, 2021.
The festival will take place in the garden at the Globe, with a total of 21 events planned. The opening performance, titled "In Shakespeare's Love but Marriage", will be directed by Tom Gerber. Ensembles and performers from Austria, England, Turkey, Belgium, and Germany are expected to grace the open-air stage.
Dr. Rainer Wiertz, the previous festival organizer, has stepped down, and Dr. Astrid Schenka will be taking over the reins. The budget for the festival will be balanced with the help of sponsors, with the largest sponsor contributing 75,000 €.
