Outdoor professionals are being targeted by Oukitel's WP61 Plus, a rugged smartphone boasting a 2W walkie-talkie and a substantial 20Ah battery.
The tech world was abuzz at IFA 2025 with the introduction of the Oukitel WP61 Plus, a rugged smartphone designed for outdoor professionals. This powerhouse device, scheduled to hit the market in November or December 2025, is set to redefine durability and performance in the world of rugged smartphones.
The WP61 Plus operates on Android 16.0 and boasts a 6.8-inch FHD+ display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, providing an immersive viewing experience even in challenging outdoor conditions. The device measures 179.5 x 84.7 x 27.2 mm and comes in a sleek black finish.
Under the hood, the WP61 Plus is powered by a MTK Dimensity 7025 processor, ensuring smooth and efficient operation. The device offers two storage options: 8GB RAM and 256GB storage or 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, providing ample space for storing photos, videos, and apps.
In terms of photography, the WP61 Plus packs a punch with a 108MP primary camera sensor, an 8MP night lens, and a 2MP macro option. The device also features a 32MP sensor on the front, a specification more typical of mainstream business smartphones, ensuring high-quality selfies and video calls.
The WP61 Plus is not just a smartphone; it's a multifunctional tool designed for the outdoors. It includes additional functions such as a camping light, a loudspeaker, a fingerprint sensor, NFC, and a gyroscope. The device also features a "Walkie-talkie (DMR 2W)" feature, enabling communication in remote areas with weak or unavailable network signals.
One of the standout features of the WP61 Plus is its battery life. With moderate use, the 20,000mAh battery could deliver several days of operation without recharging. The battery is rated for 45W charging, ensuring quick recharging when needed.
The WP61 Plus also doubles as a portable power bank, capable of charging lower-demand devices like smartwatches or fitness bands. It even comes with a seat charger, suggesting it's intended for docked setups, possibly for fleet or warehouse operations.
However, the success of the Oukitel WP61 Plus will depend on how reliably its oversized specifications perform in real-world conditions where durability, longevity, and consistent performance matter more than raw numbers. With its rugged design, powerful hardware, and versatile features, the WP61 Plus is poised to make a significant impact in the rugged smartphone market.
