The Hanseatic city of Lübeck is inviting the public to explore its rich history and architectural heritage on September 14th, as part of the annual Day of Open Monuments. This nationwide event, organised by the German Foundation for Monument Protection (Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz) since 1993, will see over 30 monuments in Lübeck open their doors to visitors.

Among the attractions are the Amts- and Landgericht building on Burgfeld, a modernist structure built between 1957 and 1962, and a reform school from the late 1920s, complete with its own planetarium. The event will also offer the opportunity to visit medieval city churches, historic bourgeois houses, and former warehouses.

The Maritim Strandhotel in Travemünde, built in the early 1970s, is another monument that will be open to visitors during the Day of Open Monuments in Lübeck, Germany.

This year's theme for the event is "Worthwhile: priceless or irreplaceable?", aiming to draw attention to the material and historical value of each monument. Some events during the Day of Open Monuments require registration, according to the Hanseatic city.

The Day of Open Monuments takes place on the second Sunday in September each year, and in Lübeck, Germany, on Sunday, September 14th. In total, over three dozen program points are offered during the event.

Whether you're a history buff or simply curious to explore the city's past, the Day of Open Monuments offers a unique opportunity to delve into Lübeck's rich history and architectural heritage. So mark your calendars and join the city in celebrating its monuments on September 14th.
