Overnight attacks in Narathiwat featured six explosions

Explosions occurred at six sites across five districts of the southern border province of NARATHIWAT on Sunday evening, leaving two individuals wounded.

In a shocking turn of events, six explosions rocked various locations in the Narathiwat province, Thailand, between 7.50pm on Sunday and 12.30am on Monday.

The first explosion took place near a vehicle, injuring Asuding Kureng, 32, the head of Ban Sukhay, and his passenger Fasaree Maming, 28. Both victims suffered chest pains and hearing difficulties, and their vehicle was damaged in the explosion.

Ten minutes before the first bomb, tyres were set on fire at a level crossing on Highway 4056 in Ban Ai Batu, Toh Deng, Sungai Padi.

The rest of the explosions occurred in different districts:

  • In Bacho district, a bomb was detonated in front of a BAAC branch in tambon Bacho at 11.55pm. Fortunately, no one was injured.
  • In Chanae district, two bombs exploded: one at Dusongyor mosque at 11.55pm and the other at Dusongyor market in tambon Dusongyor at 12.30am on Monday. Remarkably, no casualties were reported.
  • In Sri Sakhon district, a bomb went off at a BAAC ATM in tambon Tamayung at 12.30am.
  • In Cho Airong district, an explosion occurred at a BAAC ATM in tambon Chuap at 12.05am Monday.

In response to these bombings, the 4th Army commander, Lt Gen Paisarn Noosang, ordered increased security, especially in economic areas. The identities of those who carried out the bomb attacks in the five districts of Narathiwat have not been publicly confirmed.

The authorities are currently investigating the incidents and working to ensure the safety and security of the province's residents. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
