In a groundbreaking achievement for Pakistani golf, Omar Khalid Hussain has made history by becoming the first player from Pakistan to win a professional golf tournament in the United States. The 21-year-old clinched the Fendrich Open trophy at the par-70 Fendrich Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana, USA.

The tournament, which had a total prize money of US $18,700, saw Omar Khalid Hussain edging experienced professional Zach Williams from Illinois by just one stroke. His winning 36-hole aggregate score was an impressive 126 (-14).

In the first round, Omar Khalid Hussain set the tone for the tournament by carding eight birdies and an eagle, finishing with a stunning score of 9-under-par 61. In the final round, he started with a bogey but quickly recovered, sinking six birdies to finish with a score of 65.

Omar Khalid Hussain's journey in golf is nothing short of remarkable. At the age of 16, he became the youngest winner of the Pakistan Amateur. A year later, he was the youngest Pakistan No.1. His international career began with representing Pakistan at the Asian Games, Asia Pacific Golf Championship, and the World Championship.

He has also featured in prestigious tournaments such as the British Amateur, Scottish Open, and the St Andrews Open. Despite no search results indicating his current club in the United States, Omar Khalid Hussain is currently competing at the NCAA Division 1, the highest level of collegiate sports in the USA, making him the only Pakistani player at this level.

Omar Khalid Hussain's victory at the Fendrich Open is not his first record-breaking achievement. He previously won the Faldo Series Pakistan title by a record 40 strokes. In 2024, he finished fourth at the Qatar Open in Doha.

With his sights set on the PGA Tour, Omar Khalid Hussain believes he is on the right path to achieving his dream. "I am thrilled to have won the Fendrich Open and to have made history for Pakistan. This victory gives me the confidence I need to continue working hard and aiming for the PGA Tour," he said.

Omar Khalid Hussain's success is a testament to his talent and dedication. His journey in golf is a source of inspiration for many, and his achievements are creating a new wave in Pakistani golf.
