In a thrilling turn of events at New Road, Worcester on August 31, Khurram Shahzad led Worcestershire to a victorious semi-final of the 2025 One-Day Cup.

Khurram Shahzad's impressive bowling performance was the highlight of the match, as he accounted for four of the top five wickets for Somerset, leaving them skittled out for 141.

The carnage began early, with Khurram dismissing Archie Vaughan for 23 in the space of four balls. Just as Lewis Goldsworthy and Archie were settling the innings, Khurram struck again, sending Goldsworthy back to the pavilion for 10. Matthew Waite removed Joshua Thomas for six, leaving Somerset stumbling at 67-5.

Captain James Rew (47) was the last wicket to fall, courtesy of Ethan Brookes, who also took 3-16 from 2.2 overs. Khurram's excellent figures of 4-36 from seven overs, including two maidens, set a new career-best One-Day Cup figure.

The victory was a testament to Khurram's consistent form this season. His One-Day Cup average stands at 28.75, with an economy rate of 5.73. In the T20 Blast, he has taken 7 wickets in 5 matches this year, with an average of 21.85 and an economy rate of 8.12.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Hampshire defeated Yorkshire by 18 runs. Despite another hundred from Imam-ul-Haq, Yorkshire fell 18 runs short in their chase. Hampshire made 304-6 in the match, thanks to Liam Dawson's career-best List A score of 142.

Worcestershire, who made 275-9 in 50 overs, with opener Daniel Lategan top scoring with 78, will now face Hampshire in the final.
