Paris Jackson asserts no role in Michael Jackson biopic following Colman Domingo's praise for her backing, expressing that her script suggestions were disregarded.
Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late music icon Michael Jackson, has spoken out about her involvement in the upcoming biopic "Michael," directed by Antoine Fuqua. In a series of posts on her Instagram story, Jackson made it clear that she is not associated with the film and its production.
In one post, Jackson wrote that she had provided notes on the first draft of the script, highlighting what she found dishonest and did not sit right with her. However, after not receiving a response to her feedback, she decided to step away from the project.
The actress Nia Long will play Katherine Jackson, Michael's mother, in the biopic, while Colman Domingo, who is set to portray Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson, stated that Paris and her brother, Prince, are "very much in support of our film."
However, Domingo's comments appear to contradict Jackson's own statements. In another Instagram post, Jackson ended with the phrase "Not my monkeys, not my circus," suggesting a distancing from the film.
Jackson's post also included a comment about a section of the film pandering to a specific part of Michael Jackson's fandom. It's unclear what specific elements of the film Jackson is referring to.
The cast of "Michael" also includes Miles Teller as entertainment lawyer John Branca, Laura Harrier, Kat Graham, Larenz Tate, and Derek Luke. Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson's nephew, stars in the title role of the biopic.
Despite her distance from the film, Jackson did express excitement about meeting Domingo at the amfAR event. However, it's clear that her role in the production of "Michael" was limited to providing support and advice to the cast, particularly to Domingo himself.
"Michael" is set for release on April 24, 2026, from Lionsgate. Despite Jackson's distancing herself from the film, fans of Michael Jackson will no doubt be eager to see the biopic and learn more about the life of the King of Pop.
