Partnership between ENGIE and Gentoo advances as they receive £16 million for infrastructure enhancements
In a significant move, ENGIE, a leading regeneration and energy specialist, has been appointed by the Sunderland-based housing association Gentoo Group to deliver various regeneration programs. The total value of the work assigned to ENGIE is £16 million.
The focus of these projects is resident welfare, ensuring all households feel safe and secure in their homes. Frank McCormack, the project leader at ENGIE, will oversee the projects in collaboration with the Gentoo Group.
ENGIE will manage the newly awarded projects separately. One of the key initiatives includes the installation of new gas-condensing, energy-efficient combination boilers and associated works to 1,000 properties in Washington as part of a district heating upgrade.
In addition, ENGIE is installing Ground Source Heat Pumps, an innovative source of renewable energy, to seven tower blocks in Sunderland. This eco-friendly approach is part of Gentoo Group's wider investment programme, which includes investing £317 million across its 29,000 home portfolio.
The work also includes modernization and safety improvement projects across numerous Gentoo buildings. All work will be completed with residents in occupation to minimize disruption.
To ensure smooth communication and address any concerns, several consultation meetings and coffee mornings will be scheduled for affected residents. Dedicated Resident Liaison Officers will be available throughout the projects to provide support and information.
Conan McKinley, Director of Asset Strategy at Gentoo, expressed pleasure at continuing their partnership with ENGIE and looks forward to the successful delivery of key projects in the coming months. He praised ENGIE's skilled team with vast experience in regeneration, further enhanced by their partnership with Gentoo.
ENGIE has already delivered several projects on Gentoo's behalf, including re-roofing properties and repairing gable walls across thousands of properties in Houghton le Spring and Sunderland. The company's commitment to quality and resident satisfaction is evident in these successful collaborations.
As these projects progress, the partnership between ENGIE and Gentoo Group continues to strengthen, promising a brighter, more sustainable future for the residents of Sunderland.
