Johnson, who led the New York Mets to a World Series victory in 1986, spent most of his playing career with the Baltimore Orioles and had a distinguished managerial career with several teams, including the Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, and the Philadelphia Phillies.

In 1986, under Johnson's leadership, the Mets won a staggering 108 games in the regular season. This was followed by a seven-game series win against the Boston Red Sox in the World Series, a victory that would forever be etched in Mets history. Johnson's unique management style empowered players to express themselves while maintaining a strong commitment to excellence.
