The city of Gütersloh welcomed 21 new recruits to its childcare services on August 25, 2025. This group of newcomers will play an important role in the city's largest department, which focuses on early education in addition to care.

These new recruits are joining the child daycare department, which is responsible for the care of over 3,500 children in 22 facilities. The department emphasizes guidance, feedback, and personal support during the training process to ensure the new recruits can thrive in their roles.

The new recruits are starting in different sections. Ten are practice-integrated trainees to become childcare workers, six are recognition interns, and five are practice-integrated trainees to become childcare assistants. The practice-integrated training (PiA) allows trainees to work practically with children, parents, and colleagues from the start.

The PiA results in a varied daily routine, ranging from creative projects to accompanying excursions to supporting learning. Trainees and interns also have the opportunity to implement their own ideas, such as in the form of their own projects in the learning workshops.

The city of Gütersloh places a strong emphasis on quality during training. Practice supervisors intensively accompany the new recruits to ensure they receive the best possible support.

The two-day introduction included a joint lunch, during which Henning Matthes, Deputy Mayor for Family, Youth, School, Social Services, and Sports, welcomed the new recruits. Irina Bollweg from the human resources and organization department, along with Viola Sombray, organized the introduction days.

Andrea Körber, deputy head of the child daycare department, also addressed the new colleagues. She expressed her gratitude for the new recruits, stating that they strengthen the team. The child daycare department hopes that the new recruits will stay with the city even after their training or professional internship.

The specific leaders of the kindergartens (Kindertagesstätten) in the city of Gütersloh who are responsible for the 21 new entrants were not explicitly provided in the search results. However, it is mentioned that the city of Gütersloh operates 22 kindergartens with many staff members, including a newly appointed kindergarten leadership since August 1, 2024.
