Payments via wearable devices poised for expansion as Visa tokenisation is on the horizon for DIGISEQ

DIGISEQ, a global leader in wearable payment technology, is set to launch Visa tokenisation support in Q4 2025. This development marks a significant milestone in DIGISEQ's mission to make seamless, secure tap-to-pay functionality available through any object.

With the expansion to Visa, DIGISEQ is poised to lead the next wave of wearable growth across various sectors such as fashion, fitness, festivals, and beyond. This move opens up the opportunity for Visa issuing banks to offer customers a range of payment options to suit their needs and budgets.

The launch will enable the instant provisioning of Visa cards onto a wide range of DIGISEQ-powered wearable devices. The mobile personalisation solution, RCOSTM, and the Visa Digital Wallet Enabler Solution (VDWE), will allow Visa payment tokens to be seamlessly provisioned to the consumer's wearable item of choice via their own smartphone.

DIGISEQ's tokenisation approach uses Secure Element technology, similar to that trusted by digital wallets like Apple Pay. This ensures that transactions are secure and that consumers' financial information remains protected. Tokens provided by DIGISEQ can be frozen, reactivated, or deleted independently of the underlying card, offering consumers flexibility and peace of mind.

Angela Davies, Commercial Director at DIGISEQ, has commented on the Visa tokenisation launch, stating, "We are thrilled to be partnering with Visa to bring this innovative technology to our customers. Our platform connects issuers, brands, product creators, chip manufacturers, and retailers, making it easier than ever for consumers to make secure, contactless payments using their wearable devices."

DIGISEQ's white label app solution will enable Visa issuing partners to build the full experience into their own customer app. This will result in a genuine off-the-shelf experience for consumers, making it simple and convenient for them to use their wearable devices for payments.

The launch is expected to make wearable devices a more popular payment method. As more consumers adopt this technology, it is likely that we will see an increase in the variety and design of wearable devices available for payment purposes.
