The tech world is abuzz with the latest offering from Perplexity - the Comet browser. This innovative service, designed to enhance daily life, is now available for early access to Venmo and PayPal customers in the U.S. and select global markets.

In partnership with Perplexity Pro, the Comet browser is being introduced to PayPal and Venmo customers, providing them with powerful, accurate AI. This AI-driven browser is set to eliminate the need for context-switching between multiple applications, sites, and interfaces, acting as a personal shopper and personal assistant combined.

Perplexity's CEO, Aravind Srinivas, a co-founder of the company, is excited about this development. Born in Chennai, India, Srinivas studied electrical engineering at IIT Madras and later computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. He co-founded Perplexity AI in 2022 alongside Denis Yarats, Johnny Ho, and Andy Konwinski.

To further enhance user experience, Perplexity has introduced a subscription program called Comet Plus. This service offers premium content from trusted publishers and journalists, with 80% of the revenue from Comet Plus allocated to publishers and the rest to Perplexity.

The traditional SEO game is experiencing a shift, according to Joy Youell, owner of Winsome Marketing. SMBs need to focus on visibility inside generative AI platforms, such as structured data, verified listings, or integrations through plugins, APIs, or partnerships, to overcome the impact of AI-driven tools on the discovery phase.

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas emphasises that AI is helping to create a better internet, but publishers still need to get paid. The company has set aside a total of $42.5 million for its revenue-sharing program.

The larger public rollout of Comet is expected to occur after the early access period. In the meantime, Perplexity Pro is now available to customers directly in PayPal's new subscriptions hub, where users can view and manage recurring subscription payments from one location.

The Comet browser aims to understand how a user's mind works and to join all tabs into one intelligent interface. This ambitious project is set to redefine the way we interact with the internet, making it a more seamless and personalised experience for users.
