PDP Adopts Wikes' Statements as Official Policy - Kenneth Okonkwo Referenced

In a series of statements, Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, has accused Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State and a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of working against the party's interest and imposing his will.

Okonkwo claimed that Wike has already chosen the PDP's presidential candidate for 2023, who is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a candidate from another political party. He also asserted that the PDP has zoned its 2023 presidential ticket to Wike, a statement that has sparked controversy within the party.

Okonkwo recalled an instance where Wike disregarded the South East's preference for Ude Okoye as PDP's National Secretary, instead insisting on Samuel Anyanwu, who eventually emerged as the party's National Secretary. He argued that this action was "anti-party" and against the party's democratic process.

The Supreme Court ruling, which affirmed Anyanwu's position, was not an endorsement of Wike's position, according to Okonkwo. He maintained that the ruling simply stated that political parties have the right to choose whoever they so choose, and the court has no jurisdiction to interfere in what any political party has decided.

Okonkwo also accused Wike of openly supporting Tinubu, the presidential candidate of another political party, in the 2023 election, which he stated is working against the PDP. He argued that Wike's actions are undermining the PDP and its democratic processes.

In a surprising turn of events, Okonkwo stated that Wike's preferred candidate for the PDP presidential candidacy in 2027 is not Peter Obi, as many had speculated, but Atiku Abubakar.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the PDP will navigate these allegations and maintain unity within its ranks.
