Victory Park Pool Reopens After a Decade, Providing Local Swimming Option
After more than a decade of closure, the Victory Park Pool in Stockton has reopened, offering local residents a much-needed swimming option within the city. The pool, which was shut down back in 2013 due to leaks and mechanical issues, has been met with great enthusiasm by the community.
The renovations on Victory Park Pool were funded by Measure M and state funding, and were carried out by S. J. Amoroso Construction Co. The pool reopened just in time for the holiday weekend, providing a refreshing option for Stockton residents during the tail end of summer and a weekend of triple-digit temperatures.
Many Stockton residents have been anticipating the reopening of Victory Park Pool, and the excitement was palpable on the day of the grand reopening. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the occasion, and the pool was soon filled with local residents eager to take a dip.
Ten-year-old Brooklyn visited the pool two days in a row, and the kids are having a great time at Victory Park Pool. Stockton resident Diana Carpenter said, "It's great. We haven't had a pool over here in a long time, so it's really fun. The kids got to come out and swim. There was a long line, but it was worth the wait."
Another Stockton resident, Esha Butler, expressed her satisfaction with the pool, saying, "I like it, it's nice. When I saw it on the flyer, it was something I wanted to come to, didn't know I was going to be waiting in line, but hey, it's alright."
The water in the pool is cool, providing a welcome relief from the heat. Swimming at Victory Park Pool is free through Labor Day, making it an accessible option for local residents. With the pool's reopening, Stockton residents who previously had to drive outside of the city to find a swimming option now have a local option to enjoy.
The reopening of Victory Park Pool is a significant milestone for the city of Stockton, and it is clear that the community is enjoying the pool's return. Many Stockton residents are taking advantage of the opportunity to swim at the pool, and the line to get in the pool the day after the reopening was testament to the pool's popularity.
