Perilous Existence of Motorcyclists
On Saturday, October 31, 2020, at around 2:30 PM, a serious motorcycle accident occurred on the L361 road from Korschenbroich towards Schiefbahn. The incident took place at the junction of L361/Büttgerwald during a traffic disruption.
According to reports, a 52-year-old man from Neuss was riding his motorcycle when he swerved out of the traffic jam and passed the waiting queue on the left, colliding with a telehandler that was crossing the L361 from right to left. The telehandler was being driven by a 21-year-old woman from Kevelaer.
The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to the hospital by a rescue helicopter. Unfortunately, there is no publicly available information identifying the young woman who was driving the telehandler vehicle.
This incident underscores the dangers faced by motorcyclists on the road. It appears that the accident occurred because the motorcyclist did not think about the safety of himself and the other road users. Motorcyclists often have to think for other road users, sometimes even at the expense of their own safety.
