Permanent cessation of anoxia treatment for Macarena: "Life entirely eradicated in this process"

The treatment of the revered statue of María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena has been successfully completed, as announced by the technical director of Samitech, Roberto Fernández Ramos. The treatment, carried out by the specialized company, lasted for 24 days, with the sculpture kept in a treatment bubble under a 0.00% oxygen concentration.

The anoxia treatment, which eliminates any form of life that depends on oxygen, was executed as planned and met the scheduled deadlines. During this process, the physical integrity of the Sacred Image remained unaltered, ensuring the preservation of this historical artifact.

Upon completion of the treatment, Pedro Manzano, a conservator, conducted a thorough examination of the statue. Despite the extensive diagnostic tests and tomography, there were certain points on the structure that remained unchecked. Manzano will now focus on these areas, particularly a disorganized knot detected in the rear back area of the statue.

Following Manzano's assessment, the next phase of the restoration will address the structural needs identified. The work will primarily focus on the disassembly of the pieces on the left side of the mask. The responsibility of this next phase will be handed over to Julio López, another skilled restorer.

Throughout the treatment, there were no incidents reported, and there has been no aesthetic variation compared to when the treatment began. This assures the public that the statue remains in its original form, preserving its historical and cultural significance.

The successful completion of this treatment marks a significant milestone in the conservation of María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena. The statue, which has been venerated for centuries, will continue to be a source of inspiration and devotion for generations to come.
