Perpetrators detained by police following knife assault incident
A 47-year-old stateless man was arrested in Berlin-Mitte on Thursday morning following an alleged knife attack at Berlin Hauptbahnhof. The incident, which occurred around 8:45 AM, left a 42-year-old German man with stab wounds to his upper body and legs. Thankfully, the victim's life is not in danger, and he is currently receiving medical treatment.
The arrest was made by an off-duty Federal Police officer who witnessed the incident and apprehended the man at gunpoint. The Federal Police, along with the Berlin Police, deployed additional forces to assist in the arrest.
The man is also under investigation for suspected illegal residence in the federal territory, as documents raised suspicion of this matter. In addition, he tested positive for amphetamines and cocaine during a subsequent drug test.
