Personalized Marine-Themed Photo Frame
In a recent DIY project, a loving family embarked on an adventure to create a unique and personalised nautical-themed decoration. The project, a large wooden frame, was transformed into a stunning piece showcasing a boat scene, complete with waves, a ship's wheel, and a wooden anchor.
The family's artistic journey began with the selection of paints. For the ship's wheel, they chose Apple Barrel Real Brown Gloss, while the waves were painted with Martha Stewart Mother of Pearl. The sky and the water were brought to life with Apple Barrel Light Blue Gloss for the sky and Apple Barrel Cobalt Hue Gloss for the water in the frame's background.
The father-son duo took charge of painting the sky and the water, with the son demonstrating his artistic flair by meticulously painting the waves and the water. The mother lent a helping hand with the join and inside edges to ensure a smooth finish.
A slight mishap occurred when the son accidentally dropped Mod Podge, causing it to brush on the project unevenly. However, the incident resulted in an unintended but pleasing texture on the boat scene, adding a unique charm to the finished piece.
After the paint dried, they added a wooden anchor as a decoration, which was painted with Apple Barrel Pure Silver. The anchor required a couple of coats due to missed spots on the first application.
The frame, with its wide edges, was ideal for decorating. They used stencils from the PLAID Sea Life pack for the waves and ship's wheel to ensure precision and a professional touch. A layer of Mod Podge Gloss was applied over the entire project to protect and enhance the finished piece.
The final touch was the addition of rope around the frame edge. Spare rope from the father's boat was used, tying the project back to their shared love for the sea.
Although the search results do not provide information about who placed the Mod Podge on the table before the accident, the family can now proudly display their handcrafted nautical masterpiece, complete with a cherished family photo added to the frame, showing my son and husband enjoying themselves from last year. This DIY project not only served as a fun family activity but also created a treasured piece of art that will remind them of their bond and shared experiences.
