Philippine movie theaters showing digitized versions of Nora Aunor's classic films
Fans of National Artist Nora Aunor are in for a treat as her iconic films are set to be screened in various cinemas across Metro Manila.
The collection, titled The Superstar Collection: A Tribute to Nora Aunor, was released by VIVA Films and is part of A-Rewind: A Celebration of Classics. This tribute is done in partnership with ABS-CBN's Sagip Pelikula.
Tickets for the screenings are priced at P150 for regular admission, except for A-Rewind, where tickets are sold at P160 for students and P180 for regular admission. Tickets for the screenings can be purchased at Fishermall Fisher Box Office, Gateway Mall Cineplex, Robinsons Movieworld at Robinsons Antipolo and Robinsons Manila, SM Cinemas at SM North Edsa, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Fairview, and Ayala Malls Cinemas at Ayala Malls The 30th, Pasig.
The collection includes several of Nora Aunor's most notable films, such as Tatlong Ina, Isang Anak (1987) and Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos (1976), both directed by Mario O'Hara. Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos sees Nora Aunor playing a school teacher who was raped by a Japanese soldier (Christopher de Leon) but later falls in love with him. Tatlong Ina, Isang Anak, on the other hand, is a drama about love, loss, and motherhood.
Other films in the collection include Beloved (1985), directed by Leroy Salvador, and The Flor Contemplacion Story (1995). In the latter, Nora Aunor plays the titular overseas Filipino worker who was hanged in Singapore. The film was directed by Joel Lamangan and written by National Artist Ricky Lee and Bonifacio Ilagan.
In addition to these, Ayala Malls Cinemas at Ayala Malls The 30th, Pasig, are showing two more Nora Aunor classics as part of "The Superstar Collection: A Tribute to Nora Aunor," starting April 25. The exact titles and their end screening dates are not specified in the available information.
It is worth noting that Nora Aunor was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on April 22, 2023. The Superstar Collection includes the horror film Mananambal (2024), which is Nora Aunor's final appearance in the big screen. In Mananambal, Nora Aunor plays an elderly traditional folk healer from Sitio Cambugahay, Siquijor.
A-Rewind: A Celebration of Classics is set to run from Friday, April 25, until Tuesday, April 29. Fans of Nora Aunor should not miss this opportunity to revisit her classic films on the big screen.
