Philips unveils its newest range of smart home products, detailing upcoming releases
In a buzzing atmosphere at the IFA 2025 event, Philips Hue unveiled a series of exciting new additions to its smart home ecosystem.
The star of the show was the Hue Secure Video Doorbell, priced at $169.99/£169.99/€169.99. This innovative device, developed by Signify Netherlands B.V., features a 2K camera, automatic light triggering, and two-way talk, enhancing home security and convenience. A chime for the Hue Secure Video Doorbell, which adds sound alerts and can trigger a siren if needed, has also been announced and is priced at $59.99/£59.99/€59.99.
The Hue Bridge Pro, another new device, was also announced. Priced at $89.99/£89.99/€89.99, it will be available in Europe and North America later this month. Powered by the new Hue Chip Pro, which has 15 times more memory, the Hue Bridge Pro can store up to 500 unique scenes and supports up to 150 lights and 50 accessories.
To cater to those seeking simplicity and affordability, Philips Hue introduced the Hue Essential range. This new line includes bulbs, strips, and starter kits that don't require a Bridge or Matter support. The products in the Hue Essential range will run on the same software as Hue's premium products, with scaled-back performance and light quality.
In a move to create a seamless smart home experience by combining light and sound, Philips Hue announced a new collaboration with Sonos. With Sonos recently ending its partnership with IKEA, Hue - with its big focus on entertainment - is the next natural choice for a collaboration.
Philips Hue also announced a new range of strip lights, including seven products for both indoor and outdoor use. The highlight of this range is the new Philips Hue Omniglow Strip Light, which uses Omniglow technology to create smooth color gradients. The new Philips Hue Omniglow Strip Light produces 900 lumens per metre and up to 4,500 lumens in total.
In terms of future developments, Hue confirmed that more Matter support is on the way, allowing users to run Hue lights without a Bridge. However, the Hue ecosystem won't be fully moving to Matter anytime soon. A new feature called Motion Aware was also announced, which turns existing Hue lights into motion sensors.
The Hue Bridge Pro will not support Thread, a low-power wireless mesh networking protocol. Despite this, Philips Hue continues to push the boundaries of smart home technology, offering innovative and practical solutions for homeowners.
