Pipe rupture results in full obstruction of Bonnstraße

In the heart of Hürth, residents and commuters are facing temporary disruptions due to a closure on Bonn Street, caused by a burst water pipe near the church center. The affected section is expected to remain closed until mid-next week, starting from the 21st of May, 2025.

Hürth City Works has apologised for any inconvenience this closure may cause and are working diligently to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Passengers at the "German Ring" stop are advised to use line 711 to "De Bütt" and line 720 to "De Bütt" or "Komturring".

Line 711 will circle the Sudeten Street/Bonn Street roundabout on trips from Hürth Mitte (ZOB) and take a detour route due to the closure of Hermülheimer Street from the "De Bütt" stop. Consequently, passengers at "Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium" and "Church Center" stops will not be served by line 711. Instead, they are advised to use "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" or "De Bütt". Similarly, line 720 will not serve the "Town Hall/Civic Center", "Church Center", and "German Ring" stops during this period.

Passengers at the "Town Hall/Civic Center" and "Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium" stops are encouraged to use the regular "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" stop instead. Bus lines 711 and 720 are being rerouted in both directions via Theresienhöhe, Frechener Street, and Sudeten Street.

Access via Hohlweg remains possible during the closure. The responsible authority or company for repairing the burst pipe on Bonn Street is yet to be identified, but typically, such repairs on public streets are handled by the local city or municipal public works department or a contracted utility service company.

To stay updated on progress and the reopening time, residents and commuters are advised to follow the official announcements. The water supply in the affected area must be shut off for repair work from 4:00 PM on the 21st of May, 2025. The street will be reopened to traffic around 10:00 AM after the barrier removal on the 20th of May, 2025, and the retractable bollards in the affected area have been permanently lowered to ensure passage.

Residents have already been informed about the closure, and updates on progress and the reopening time will be provided promptly.
