Pitcher Chris Sale to initiate the first match at Truist Park since almost three months elapsed.
Atlanta Braves News: Chris Sale Returns, Ha-Seong Kim Shines in Home Debut
The Atlanta Braves are gearing up for an exciting week, with the return of pitcher Chris Sale and the impressive debut of shortstop Ha-Seong Kim.
On Friday, Kim made his first home start with the Braves, and his impact was immediate. In a game against the Chicago Cubs, Kim hit a go-ahead, three-run home run, leading the team to a 5-1 victory. This historic home run was not only Kim's first with the Braves, but it was also the first home run by a Braves shortstop this season.
Meanwhile, Sale, who has been out since June 18 due to a rib fracture, was activated from the 60-day injured list on Saturday. His first start back was against the Philadelphia Phillies, where he allowed one earned run on three hits while striking out nine across six innings. Despite the single earned run, the Braves unfortunately lost the game, 3-2.
Manager Brian Snitker expressed positivity about Kim's impact on the team, stating, "I wouldn't mind him playing every game that's left, if he could, because we can see what he can bring to this club as he already did."
As for the team's record, as of Friday, the Braves have a record of 63-77, 12 games out of a wild card spot. The team will look to improve this record in their upcoming games, with the next one scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
For fans outside of Atlanta, the channel for the Braves on Gray can be found at BravesOnGray.com. Gray Media will simulcast 15 Atlanta Braves games throughout the Southeast this season. Fans can watch the next Braves home game live on Bally Sports South.
Ha-Seong Kim will continue to start at shortstop for the remainder of the season, while Chris Sale's next start will be against the Seattle Mariners on Friday at Truist Park.
The Braves have had a strong history with Sale, as the team won seven of his last 11 starts before his injury. The team will be hoping for similar success as Sale continues his comeback.
