Plans revealed by Mayor Gungun regarding the city's budget
In a statement, Vice Mayor Erwin Gica of Dumanjug, Philippines, has addressed the recent incident involving a child predator who targeted his daughter. Gica stated that the investigation against Dumanjug's Mayor Efren Guntrano "Gungun" Gica, his brother, was initiated by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) following a viral video on social media that drew public attention and prompted the Commission on Human Rights to investigate.
According to Gica, Mayor Gungun's actions were not born out of malice or abuse of authority, but were instead an instinctive reaction of a father confronted with the unspeakable pain of his daughter being targeted. Gica emphasized that the incident should not be used as a means to criticize Mayor Gungun's public service, but rather, those who support "honest leadership and compassion" should focus on supporting the ongoing investigation and calling for justice and resolution.
In a show of unity, Gica declared, "For the record, we stand united behind Mayor Gungun - as a public servant, as a brother, and as a father." Gica's statement comes as the investigation into the incident continues, with both the PNP and NBI working to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
