In the small town of Fellbach-Oeffingen, a routine football match between TV Oeffingen and TSV Rudersberg took an unexpected turn during the 35th minute. A player from TSV Rudersberg collapsed on the field, sending shockwaves through the crowd.

As the player lay motionless, one of his teammates, Sebastian Pfuhl, sprang into action. He immediately began CPR, a life-saving measure that would prove crucial in the moments that followed.

Beate Wichtler, a first aid expert from the German Red Cross (DRK) Rems-Murr, advises that in such situations, the first step is to check for breathing. If there's no response, she suggests gently shaking the person and calling the emergency services.

In this instance, someone from the scene quickly made the call to the emergency services, while another person fetched the defibrillator. The home team's coach took over, ensuring the match was temporarily halted to focus on the player's condition.

Chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and the use of a defibrillator were performed on the collapsed player. The efforts paid off, as the player started breathing again after a few minutes. His breathing was intermittent, and he turned blue, but the prompt actions of those present at the scene undoubtedly saved his life.

The 30-year-old footballer from TSV Rudersberg who suffered a heart attack during the match against TV Oeffingen is currently in rehabilitation. His identity remains undisclosed in the sources, but he is reported to have suffered a so-called posterior wall heart attack.

In the aftermath of the incident, both clubs, TV Oeffingen and TSV Rudersberg, have announced they'll be organizing first aid courses to ensure their players and spectators are better equipped to handle such emergencies in the future. The German Red Cross also emphasizes the importance of refreshing first aid skills every two years.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of first aid training and the swift actions of those present in saving a life. Let's hope that this player makes a full recovery and returns to the field soon.
