Pocket-Sized Portable Air Conditioner: Reon

Sony has created a unique gadget that aims to help manage temperature when traditional air conditioners or heaters are not available. The Reon Pocket, a wearable portable air conditioner, is designed to provide relief during travel in hot weather, and surprisingly, it can also keep you warm in cold weather.

The Reon Pocket utilizes the Peltier effect, which involves the absorption or emission of heat through small electrical currents. This technology allows the device to lower a person's body temperature by up to 23°F and can increase body temperature by 14°F.

The Reon Pocket is worn on the back of the neck in a designated pocket on specially designed shirts. This discreet placement ensures minimal discomfort while providing optimal cooling or heating.

Sony is planning to bring the Reon Pocket to Europe and North America, but as of now, there is no specific information available about where it will be sold. The device is set to launch in Japan in March 2020.

The Reon Pocket can maintain cool or warm temperatures for up to 24 hours on a single charge, which takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge. The cost of the Reon Pocket is about $120.

The device can be controlled via Bluetooth through an app, allowing users to adjust temperatures to their comfort. This wearable technology is set to revolutionize the way we manage our body temperatures, especially during travel or in situations where traditional air conditioning or heating is not available.
