Polestar introduces vehicular GeoGuessr game within automobiles
In an exciting turn of events, Swedish car manufacturer Polestar has partnered with game studio Ubik to launch its own version of the popular geolocation-based game, GeoGuessr. The GeoGuessr Polestar Edition was officially released in June 2023, bringing a fresh twist to the original gameplay.
Just like the original GeoGuessr, the new edition does not alter the core mechanics of the game. Players are still dropped into random locations around the world, relying on visual clues to deduce their exact location. However, the Polestar edition offers a unique meta-twist, with a view from the Polestar 4's digital rear-view mirror at the top of the screen, adding a fun car-based touch.
The game uses Google Maps for its locations, and this time around, players will be exploring Europe's best driving roads. This edition is every bit as addictive as the original, although the Europe-wide competition and the "once-in-a-lifetime" trip are exclusive to European residents.
To celebrate this partnership, a Europe-wide competition has been launched alongside the 2025 GeoGuessr World Championship Finals in Copenhagen. The winner of this competition will receive an exclusive prize: a trip to Polestar's headquarters in Gothenburg, including a full test track day with a professional racing driver.
Michael Lohscheller, Polestar's CEO, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that both GeoGuessr and Polestar celebrate exploration. He further added that charging a Polestar now provides "the perfect entertainment offer" with the GeoGuessr Polestar edition.
The GeoGuessr Polestar edition is now available on mobile, desktop, and in all Polestar cars via the in-car browser, making it accessible to a wide audience. This new edition is a part of Polestar's growing line-up of digital experiences, offering a unique blend of technology and adventure.
So, gear up for an exciting journey as you explore Europe's roads with the GeoGuessr Polestar Edition!
