Cologne Police Enforce Crackdown on Illegal Activities

The local public order office in Cologne has ordered the immediate and provisional closure of a kiosk on Guillaume Street, following repeated violations, including the sale of illegal tobacco products like vapes to minors.

On June 11, Cologne Police, in conjunction with the city's public order office, conducted an operation on the right bank of the Rhine. The operation aimed to enforce criminal, public order, and trade regulations due to repeated reports of rowdy youth and the sale of illegal tobacco products.

At the start of the operation, teams patrolled the areas around Wiener Platz, Stadtgarten, and Mülheim train station, checking around 30 people. During the operation, police conducted 60 personal checks, six suspect conversations, and penalized various traffic offenses.

The kiosk on Guillaume Street was controlled due to repeated violations. During the check, numerous unauthorized or taxable products were secured. A ban on trade proceedings will be initiated against the operator of the kiosk.

In the afternoon, the focus of the operation shifted to the Dellbrück district, particularly Dellbrücker Hauptstraße and Vischeringstraße. In the evening, police checked a large group of youth on Dellbrücker Hauptstraße who were behaving aggressively and engaging in so-called show fights. A 17-year-old was taken into custody for disrupting the measures and refusing to comply with the dispersal order.

Simultaneously, further control and presence measures were carried out in the districts of Dünnwald, Holweide, and Thielenbruch, particularly at public transport stops.

In other kiosks, violations of trade labeling obligations, unauthorized video surveillance, and violations of the pricing regulation were found. The city of Cologne has initiated measures against these violations in other kiosks as well.
