Police Busy With Weekend Crime Wave: False Calls, Car Thefts, and Vandals
Local police have been busy dealing with a mix of criminal activities and misuse of emergency services over the weekend. A 48-year-old man has been charged for making false emergency calls, while a 23-year-old man caused a disturbance and resisted arrest. Several car thefts and attempted thefts were also reported.
Starting with the misuse of emergency services, a 48-year-old man has been charged for making false calls to 110 and 112. This resulted in valuable police resources being diverted from genuine emergencies.
On Wermingser Street, a 23-year-old man caused a disturbance and fled from police. He resisted arrest, leading to a chase and eventual apprehension.
Several car thefts and attempted thefts were reported over the weekend. A DaimlerChrysler B 200/245 on Friedrich Street was stolen, along with a VW Golf from a parking garage on Schillerplatz. Additionally, a dark gray Ghost e-bike was taken from a hallway on Westfalenstraße.
Vandalism was also reported. A windshield on Sterkenkamp was smeared with mud, and unknown persons broke into garden huts in Lau, with one door pried open and another searched. A broken cigarette machine on Breslauer Street was also reported.
Police are still searching for the person who committed a burglary between 12:03 and 3:07 in Markisch Kreis, stealing a TV and various drinks from a carport at an unknown location. A surveillance camera recorded an attempted break-in on Esser Street, where a terrace door was targeted.
During a search, a man was found in possession of cannabis, a fine scale, and a knife.
