Police department head lauds achievement as 'significant honor'

Cebu City Police Chief Honoured for Outstanding Achievements

In a ceremony held during the 124th Police Service Anniversary at Camp Crame, Police Colonel Enrico Figueroa was recognised for his exceptional contributions to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO). Figueroa was named the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations in the entire Philippines on Aug. 12, 2025, an honour bestowed upon only one officer from the Philippine National Police (PNP) organisation each year.

The recognition came following Figueroa's successful implementation of various initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and security of Cebu City. One such initiative, Oplan Bulabog, was effective in enforcing all city ordinances and significantly reducing the city's crime rate by 32.7 percent.

Cebu City Councilor Paul Labra II played a crucial role in honouring Figueroa for his achievements. Labra, a former Police Brigadier General, filed a resolution to recognise Figueroa's significant contribution to the city's police force.

Figueroa acknowledged that policing in Cebu City, one of the most developed places in the Philippines, presents a major challenge. However, he expressed confidence about the return of Oplan Pakigsandurot, a community-based initiative aimed at safeguarding the city, particularly at night.

Under Figueroa's leadership, police officers have been patrolling villages, especially at night, to warn people still outside their homes during late hours and early morning. Additionally, Figueroa proposed the reintroduction of the practice of providing bullets to every officer for more effective training.

Labra also expressed his desire to reestablish recognition for 'Cebu's Finest' - police officers who have consistently won championships in shooting competitions nationwide. Figueroa's team succeeded in managing troublemakers and providing protection to workers returning home at late hours.

Figueroa expressed his gratitude to Councilor Paul Labra II for his efforts and promised to reciprocate with continued hard work to maintain order and safety in Cebu City. He remains confident that with the implementation of their programs, the police will succeed in their efforts to ensure the peace and security of the city.
