Police encounter resistance from movement KOD amidst ongoing confrontations
In an incident that occurred on August 29, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the Gelsenkirchen Police were called to support the municipal public order service at Königswiese in Buer. The incident involved a 51-year-old Gelsenkirchen resident who showed verbal aggression towards city employees and responding officers.
The police were called to assist due to an administrative offense involving the 51-year-old. He attempted to bite an officer and prevent the measure by kicking and thrashing, resulting in minor injuries to both KOD staff and officers who remained fit for duty.
The 51-year-old also prevented transport in a prisoner transport vehicle by kicking, headbutting, and spitting at the officers. As a result, he sustained injuries to both arms and his right eye during the resistance. Officers attempted to restrain him, but he resisted and became aggressive.
An ambulance was called, and the troublemaker was secured on a stretcher. The incident was handled by Police President Tim Frommeyer, the head of the Gelsenkirchen Police Department as of August 29, 2025.
