Police halt vehicle on highway A23/AS Pinneberg North as driver shows signs of intoxication, bound for Hamburg.
On September 3, 2025, a shocking incident of drunk driving was reported on the A23 highway between Lagerdorf and Pinneberg Nord. According to the Police Directorate Bad Segeberg, the incident involved a black VW Caddy travelling towards Hamburg.
At around 14:30, the driver of the vehicle was found to have a preliminary blood alcohol content of over 2.7 per mille, as revealed by a breathalyzer test. The driver, a 59-year-old man from Schenefeld, is facing charges for driving under the influence.
The erratic driving behavior of the man was evident, with witnesses reporting instances of the driver crossing lane markings and causing hazardous situations with other road users. The incident occurred near the Elmshorn junction, and the police officers were deployed to handle the situation.
The police located the vehicle near the Pinneberg Nord junction, and a blood sample was taken from the driver for further analysis. Witnesses or those affected by the traffic situation are asked to contact the Police Highway and District Office in Elmshorn at 04121-409210.
