Police in custody following search; 28-year-old detained
In the heart of Oberhausen, Germany, on Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2023, a significant event unfolded. Police officers, patrolling the city center, made an arrest following a suspicious encounter.
The incident took place in Oberhausen, where the officers attempted to stop a pedestrian for questioning. However, the 28-year-old man, who was later identified as the suspect, sensed the control and quickly walked away.
A short pursuit ensued, and the man was apprehended by the officers a short distance away. Upon searching the man, they discovered a significant amount of cannabis in his waist bag, packaged in various zip-top bags. The officers also found two smartphones and a telescopic baton in his possession.

Investigations regarding the trafficking of narcotics are ongoing, and so far, there is no evidence that the detainee was involved in the robbery that occurred in the city center.
On July 9, 2023, a judge ordered the detention of the 28-year-old on remand at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Duisburg. The narcotics, smartphones, and baton seized from the 28-year-old were confiscated.
