In a recent incident, a heavy transporter carrying a brand-new electric tractor unit was halted by the traffic inspection of the South Hesse Police Headquarters near Mörfelden-Walldorf on the A5. The vehicle was found to be overloaded by 14 percent and the cargo was not secured according to valid regulations.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26th. At approximately 12:30 PM, the transporter, which was without an escort vehicle, was observed on the A5 near Weiterstadt. The load distribution was found to be inadequate, resulting in significant excesses in axle loads and total weight.

The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old individual, was not allowed to continue his journey and had to unload the electric tractor unit onto a suitable vehicle. Over 2000 euros were collected from the logistics company to secure a potential profit-taking measure against the transport company.

A profit-taking measure was initiated by the police, requiring the entrepreneur to pay 2500 euros in advance. The bucket loader weighed 30 tons and was destined for Belgium, but the transport company did not have a valid permit for the entire route.

The responsibility of the entrepreneur who conducted the two overloaded and inadequately secured transports lies in compliance with transport safety regulations, securing loads properly, and adhering to legal limits. Failure in these areas typically entails liability for any violations or damages caused. Fines and points in Flensburg are still pending.
