Police in Poland detained two drivers: one for exceeding the speed limit by over 2.5 times the legal limit per mile.

Police in POL-CE halted a driver and another individual behind the wheel, both exceeding the speed limit of 2.5 miles per hour.

In two separate incidents, drivers in the Celle region have been accused of drunk driving, with both cases being investigated by the Police Inspectorate Celle.

On August 27, 2025, a 36-year-old Opel driver from Hannover was stopped by police in Andelheidsdorf. His unsafe driving, including driving on the opposite lane on the K4 between Wietze and Hornbostel, attracted police attention. Upon investigation, the officers detected alcohol influence from the driver on site. A breath test showed a value of over 2.7 per mille, leading to the prohibition of the journey, confiscation of the driver's license, and a blood sample being taken.

The following day, August 26, a 43-year-old VW driver in Wietze was stopped by police for suspected drunk driving. A witness informed the police, and a police patrol stopped the VW driver in the Winsener Street in Wietze. The incident occurred around 15:20 on the Berlin Street, where the driver almost collided with a child on the sidewalk during a right turn. A breath test on site failed, and a blood sample was taken from him. This driver also faces a criminal procedure for endangering traffic.

For inquiries about such incidents, the head of the Celle Police Inspection, who is also the head of the prevention team at the Celle Police, can be contacted. Christian Riebandt is the name to reach, with contact information available at Telephone: 05141 277-104, Email: [email protected].

The information in these reports was transmitted by the Police Inspectorate Celle, via news aktuell. It is important to remember that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence that puts lives at risk.

In both cases, the drivers were prohibited from continuing their journeys, their driver's licenses were confiscated, and blood samples were ordered. The child in the second incident remained unharmed, a fortunate turn of events considering the potential danger.

As these incidents demonstrate, the police are vigilant in their efforts to ensure the safety of the roads and the public. Drivers are reminded to always drive responsibly and sober, for the sake of themselves and others on the road.
