Police in Poland obtain blood sample from intoxicated female cyclist after she resists
On Sunday, September 7th, at approximately 21:20, a 48-year-old woman from Cologne was reported to be cycling erratically on Cologne Street in Troisdorf. The woman, who was heavily intoxicated, zigzagged across the road and drove into oncoming traffic several times, causing two vehicles to brake to avoid collisions.
Upon arrival, police officers found the woman with her bicycle. They detected alcohol on her breath, slurred speech, and balance issues. The woman reacted aggressively and insulted the officers immediately.
Despite being offered a voluntary breath alcohol test, the woman was unable to perform it due to her high level of intoxication. Consequently, she was taken to a nearby police station for a blood sample to determine her alcohol level and a blood test for narcotics.
However, the woman resisted the blood sample extraction with physical violence, requiring officers to use immediate force. She was then held in police custody for sobering up until 09:30.
The woman will now have to answer charges of endangering traffic and resisting law enforcement officers. For further inquiries, the Circles Police Department Rhein-Sieg District can be contacted at 02241/541-2222, or emails can be sent to [email protected]. The doctor who determined the woman's blood alcohol level at the police station is not specified in the available information.
It is advisable for everyone to be mindful of their actions while under the influence of alcohol or drugs to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
