On Friday, September 4, 2025, officers from the 2nd Police Precinct in Lübeck conducted traffic regulation checks at Lindenplatz. The focus of the checks was on the ban on crossing solid lines towards Moislinger Allee and Puppenbrücke.

During the two-hour period, a total of 97 violations were registered. Sixty-six of these violations were due to crossing the solid line, with over 30 further violations detected between 10 am and 12 pm.

One particularly concerning incident involved a 38-year-old woman from Lübeck, who was driving a VW Golf from Moislinger Allee towards Lindenplatz around 10:20 am. Officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol on her breath, and a subsequent breath alcohol test showed a preliminary value of over 1.2 per mille for the woman. As a result, she was prohibited from using any vehicle requiring a driver's license until further notice, and her driver's license was seized during the control.

In addition to the alcohol-related incident, five drivers were found to be using their mobile phones illegally while driving, and in one case, children were not secured in the car as prescribed. Seventeen road users were also found not to be wearing seat belts during the checks.

The woman from Lübeck was checked by a doctor, who took a blood sample from her. For further questions, contact the Polizeidirektion Lübeck Press Office. Ulli Fritz Gerlach, Press Spokesman, can be reached at Phone: 0451 / 131-2006, Fax: 0451 / 131 - 2019, or by email at [email protected].

It is important to comply with traffic rules at these points to reduce the risk of traffic accidents at Lindenplatz in the long term. Many traffic accidents occur at the entrances and exits of Lindenplatz, especially when turning, turning off, or crossing. The controls at the Lindenplatz will continue.
