Police in Poland report that a 43-year-old individual sustained serious injuries.
In a recent development, a single-vehicle accident involving an e-scooter occurred on August 9th in Dahl, Mönchengladbach. The accident took place on Richard-Wagner-Straße towards St. Joseph’s Church.
According to the police, the driver of the e-scooter, a 43-year-old man, sustained severe injuries. Upon arrival, the man was unresponsive. Witnesses reported that the man fell off his e-scooter for unknown reasons and was thrown onto the road.
Initial investigations suggest that the man had consumed large amounts of alcohol prior to the incident. This has prompted the Mönchengladbach Police to remind everyone that the same rules regarding alcohol consumption apply to e-scooters as they do to cars.
Under German law, a blood alcohol concentration of 1.1% or higher is considered a criminal offense, regardless of any signs of impairment. For a blood alcohol concentration of 0.5 - 1.09%, it is considered an administrative offense, resulting in a fine of 500 euros, a one-month driving ban, and two points on one's license.
Those in their probationary period or under the age of 21 who drive under the influence of alcohol must pay a fine of 250 euros and receive one point on their license. Novice drivers and young drivers under the age of 21 are subject to an absolute alcohol ban.
In cases of alcohol-related impairment, a fine is imposed, with repeat offenders potentially facing imprisonment. The driver's license is suspended for at least six months for a criminal offense, and in case of an alcohol-related accident, the suspension lasts for at least twelve months.

It is important to note that no publicly available information about a 43-year-old man involved in an e-scooter accident under the influence of alcohol in Mönchengladbach on August 9 of any year has been found. However, this incident serves as a reminder for everyone to be responsible when using e-scooters, particularly when alcohol is involved.
Stay safe, Mönchengladbach!
